Writing a book based on a true story when I was part of a Navy jet community is not my day job. On its pages I leave my world as a professor of communication to explore what it means to be an imperfect human trying to make sense of being in love with two persons at once.
That is what I explore as I tell this coming-of-age tale, which happened to take place in an extraordinary place (Whidbey Island), in a foreign culture (the US Navy aviation community in the 1990s), and also includes some extraordinary (almost unbelievable) events. So, if your curious about the lives of pilots who landed jets on carriers, believe in love but think life is a bit more complicated than romantic movies, and you’ve ever questioned whether you are in charge of your own destiny or a subject of circumstance, you might relate to the story I share.
